The Seven Whispers is an invitation to center our lives around key guiding principles that can be lived in any faith tradition or free-thinking spirituality. These “whispers” are a daily practice, recited with the rise of morning light.
Maintain peace of mind
Move at the pace of guidance
Practice certainty of purpose
Surrender to surprise
Ask for what you need and offer what you can
Love the folks in front of you
Return to the world
In my own practice, I stand at the picture window and raise the blinds. I recite these phrases. On mornings I jump to busyness or emails instead (I am not a perfect practitioner!) my day is more susceptible to distraction, not as sure what certainty I was pursuing. And on the days I remember, I move with guidance, maintain more calm, and my heart is better able to love the folks in front of me.
Twenty-plus years after publication, I still get letters like this one: “… your book has served as a “spiritual compass” for me through the good and bad times of the last 20 years. When things aren’t great, I go back to it and find which whisper(s) I have forgotten. … I read it again during the Holidays and realized how much of a blessing that little book has been in my life. Simple, straightforward, and powerful. Thank you!” David R, Portland, OR
